Terrace. Early C19. Brown brick in Flemish bond, some reddened, stucco ground
floor, channelled stucco to wings. Stucco cornice and further cornice to
parapet. 4 storeys. Symmetrical composition of 10-bay central breakforward with
10-bay wings, the outer 6 of which on each side breakforward. To centre
projecting baseless Doric porches and round-arched sashes in recesses, one with
glazing bars and radial glazing in the head. Otherwise pilastered entrances,
sash windows. First floor; iron balcony. Casements or sashes, some with
glazing bars. Windows to centre bays in architraves with hoods on consoles and
pediments to centre 4 bays. Architraves to outer 6 bays and pediments to outer
windows. Above, casements and sashes, some with glazing bars. Architraves
except for 4-bay wings which have flat gauged brick arches. Cornice at 3rd floor
level. Iron basement railings. Sussex Gardens, known originally as Grand
Junction Road, formed an important feature of the original layout of Bayswater.
