House, at one time 3 cottages. C16, C17, c19 and C20. Walls form recladding and
new work; dark ironstone with brick quoins, flat and cambered arches, yellow stone
above dark ironstone with stone quoins, small area of exposed frame, brickwork in
Flemish bond, and tile-hanging of the upper floor. Tile roof, catslide at rear,
gabled dormers. Late-medieval timber-framed 3-bay hall, with a C17 rear wing at
the east side, and a large cross wing at the west end (partly C17, mostly early
c19). South front of 2.1½ storeys, 0.2 windows. Casements, blocked doorways. The
west elevation is 2 storeys, 1.3 windows, the north side extension being late C20;
upper casements and ground floor sashes, C20 stone and brick gabled porch. The
rear has a large central tile-hung gabled dormer (enclosing the staircase) and a
lower wing at the east side, exposed framework to the old north wall, and an
outshot to the north wing. Interior: part of framework is exposed, and a C17 dog-
leg stair.
