House. 2-bay W wing is dated 1660 on concealed plaque in E gable end. Late
C18-early Cl9 wing added at right-angles to E end to form L-plan. Small C20
lean-to extensions along road side. Render over rubble stone, Collyweston slate
roofs, coped gables, ashlar chimneys with moulded cornices. 2 storeys, the older
wing with attic and cellar. C17 wing has lobby entry plan, with floor levels of
W bay raised over cellar. S front retains original ground floor windows of 3
lights with ovolo-moulded limestone mullions and cyma recta cornices. Similar
2-light cellar window to left is also original. Blocked single light with
ovolo-moulded ironstone surround to right of door is possibly an insertion.
First floor has C19-C20 2-light wooden casements, and attic has C20 skylight to
right. Central board door with traces of former gabled porch. This wing has
central chimney and another to right with moulded necking. E wing has flanking
chimneys and hipped roof at right end. 2-bay E front has 3-light windows with
limestone surrounds and square mullions, each light with a beaded edge and a
single slender horizontal glazing bar. Central 4-panelled door with
marginally-glazed rectangular fanlight and re-sited cyma recta cornice above.
Interior: C17 wing has moulded stone fireplace with 4-centred arch set cross
corner of ground floor room of W bay, and remains of another similar fireplace in
upper room of E bay. Ground floor of E bay has large fireplace with
ovolo-moulded wooden lintel and later wooden cornice. Stop-chamfered spine
beams, old board and 2-panel doors.
