Terrace house. c.1735 by John Sanger,carpenter. Stock brick, slate roof. 4
storeys. 3 windows wide. Ground floor has entrance to left with 5-panel door and
semicircular fanlight recessed in panelled reveals and soffit and with doorcase of
Doric columns, dosserets and open mutule pediment; pilastered display window with
entablature inserted to right late C19. Upper floors (the top are early C19
addition) have recessed sashes with C19 glazing, under flat gauged arches. Original
1st floor sill band cut by lowering of sills. Parapet with coping. Interior has
central top 1st stair well between main rooms and closet beyond; hall with corniced
doorcases, rear ground floor room with niches with finely carved shell-heads flanking
pair of carved scrolls that formerly framed fireplace; cut string staircase with 2
turned balusters per tread, column newels, swept handrail with bold curtail -
balustrade renewed above 1st floor; enriched cornices, doorcases etc.
