A timber-framed and plastered house of C16 origin with later extensions and alterations,
Part of the former moat still remains. Originally with cross wings on the north
and south ends. The north wing was extended to the east in the late C16 and the
south wing was incorporated in the front block when the roof was heightened, probably
in the C18-C19. The north wing is gabled on the west front and has some exposed
timber-framing with brick nogging on the north side. The west front has 3 window
range, C19 double hung sashes with vertical glazing bars. The remaining windows
are generally casements. The south front is brick faced and has 3 gables with
an external chimney stack at the west end. The north front has a large external
chimney stack at the west end. Roof tiled. The interior has carved ceiling
beams and original doorways. (RCHM 6).
