Corner site with Castle Street. Probably dating from latter part of
Cl8 but refaced and altered early Cl9. Two storeys and attic faced
in stucco. Two windows to George Street, three to Castle Street. Gable
end and hipped slate roofs. Gabled bay to George Street of one window.
George Street front: attic window, sash, glazing bars, moulded frame,
block sill. First floor: one bay window of three lights, sash, later
glazing bars, plain strips, frieze and cornice, plain apron, and one
recessed sash window with later glazing bars, block sill. Ground
floor one sash window later glazing bars in moulded frame, thin block
sill. Bar entrance is set across corner on curve, double doors of four
fielded panels, roll moulded frame and centre post. The wall above is
splayed out and curves up to rejoin right angle on first floor. The first
bay on Castle Street has sash windows, late glazing bars in moulded frames,
other windows, recessed sash, glazing bars intact, block sills. Recessed
door of four fielded panels, moulded case, flanked by pilasters with brackets
supporting broken pediment.
