Fountain in
Titchfield Park
II
Memorial drinking fountain. 1898. To Zachariah Green and 3
other members of the family. Red and grey granite. Sandstone
ashlar plinth. Battered square pedestal with coved base. North
and south sides have fluted moulded drinking bowls. Above,
square base with corner shafts. On each side, a round headed
niche with flanking shafts, each containing inscribed tablet.
That to west has bronze portrait medallion. Frieze inscribed
"Erected 1898". Cross pedimented capital with etched patterns.
Above, domed base carrying circular cupola with shafts, topped
with dome and iron finial. This memorial originally stood in the
Market Square and was probably re-sited when Titchfield Park was
opened in 1922.
