Kiln said to have been used for iron ore smelting. Early C20. Brick and mass
concrete. Circular plan. Large mass concrete base with brick upper stage. 8
openings, with semi-circular heads at base of brickwork. Remains of concrete
coping at top of brickwork. Interior not inspected but partially lined with
firebricks. Said to have been constructed during the First World War. Forms
group with Kiln at OS 9473 9966 (q.v.) and Kiln bases at OS 9476 9966 (q.v.) and
OS 9474 4966 (q.v.)
