Originally a mid C16 red brick house but largely destroyed by fire in the
late C19. The west and south walls are the only remains of the original
building. Two storeys. The west front has 4 crow stepped gables, not matching
(2 of them are modern restorations). On the south front there are 2 original
crow stepped gables with pinnacles. The windows are casements, stone dressed,
some with stone mullions and transoms. The original 4-centred head to the
entrance has been covered with cement. There is an original external chimney
stack at the north end with 2 octagonal shafts. A C19 central chimney stack
has 2 square shafts set diagonally on a square base. Roof slate. (RCHM
