Farmhouse. C17. Sundial, now eroded, formerly dated 1687. Coursed sandstone
rubble with ashlar dressings; stone-flagged roof. L-plan. 2 storeys, 3 windows.
Partly-glazed door at left of third bay in cyma-moulded architrave, with
pulvinated frieze and cornice. First 2 bays have 3-light horizontal sliding
sashes with moulded sills; lugged flat stone lintels under label moulds; similar
treatment to small window to right of door, with altered glazing, which is now
part of the house to the right. 12-pane sash inserted on first floor at right
under chamfered stone lintel and with re-used moulded sill and label mould.
Low-pitched roof has 3 ridge chimneys with thin bands. Rear elevation has
outshut with 2 low storeys under catslide roof; rear wing at right, behind third
bay, has semi-circular stone-coped oven projection in rear gable, which has
rows of pigeon holes and shelves in gable peak.
Remainder of house to right is not of special interest.
Interior: through-passage with fire backing onto it at left; wood fire lintel
with run-out chamfer; small square recess in outer wall to right of fire; joists
have stepped stopped chamfers. Moulded panelled screen to left of fire
encloses space under stair, with 8-panel door with moulded stiles and rails.
Several C17 doors with early snecks and turning loop handles, one with star
scutcheon.
