Large house built for William Dearling about 1811. Architect probably James
Elmes. The main front facing west has two storeys and seven windows.
Stuccoed, ground floor rusticated with string course above. Eaves cornice.
Slate roof. Glazing bars intact. Slightly curved bay in centre with iron
balcony on first floor. Later in the C19 a pavilion has been added at the
north end which is joined to the house by a corridor with a colonnade of four
Doric columns in front of it. The entrance front has two storeys and attic,
four windows, three dormers and a wide portico with twin columns. To the
north-west is a one storey wing with an Italianate loggia over.
