10/145 Bridge and lychgate to the Church

Bridge surmounted by lychgate. Probably Cl8 bridge, late C19/early C20 lychgate.
Bridge across stream running to the south of the churchyard and guildhouse. Stone
rubble bridge with parapet walls with slate capping, timber lychgate with slate
roof with timber gabled ends. Single span bridge has segmental stone arch and
stone parapets, timber posts supporting gabled lychgate roof rest on parapet walls
of bridge. Coffin rest under lychgate, timber pedestrian gate at south end of
bridge. Lychgate roof has openwork timber gable ends with curved braces between
posts and collar. Stone coffin rest has probably C18 moulded freestone capping.
Parapet walls of bridge terminate on south side in gate piers of rectangular
section. Timber gate has 3 fielded panels below low middle rail, timber cross and
panels with round-headed timber plate tracery above. Path of pitched stones across
bridge.
