1/142 Unwin Farmhouse
GV II
Farmhouse. C17 with later alterations and additions. Coursed
rubble with ashlar dressings; plain tile roof with coped verges on
kneelers; engineering brick ridge stack to left of centre and stone
block ridge stack to right. Lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys; 3 bays,
glazing bar casements of 3 lights except first floor right of 2 lights,
ground floor windows have straight hood moulds and replace earlier,
mullioned windows; half glazed door to left of centre; straight
joint and quoins to ground floor right of centre, horizontal joint
and change in masonry at first floor level. Low kitchen extension to
left with C20 casement. The structural evidence suggests that the
house started life as a 2-room single storey dwelling, was first
extended to the south-east and later had its eaves level raised and
a first floor added, a single storey kitchen extension was then
added to the south-west.
