3/86 Barn circa 34 yards
west of
Honeywood Farmhouse

Barn. Late C15 or earlier. Timber framed on stone plinth. Weatherboarded
to left and rear. Right elevation and gable end to road red brick in
Flemish bond. Plain tile roof. At right-angles to road. Roof half-
hipped to front, hipped to rear. C20 porch with boarded doors and
lean-to roof to centre of left elevation. Boarded loading doors to
street. Interior: 4 timber-framed bays with midstrey in third bay
from rear. Aisled each side. Road end bay rebuilt and most of wall
studding replaced. 3 pairs of principal posts on wood cills, with
curved passing shores from cills to tops of posts. Heavy gunstock
jowls. Long arch braces. Straight tie-beams. Plain crown-posts
with 2 upward and 2 downward braces. Lapped collars. Posts tall and
of large scantling, roof steeply pitched.
