Gate piers, gates and railings. Gate piers of 1748-1749, railings
and gates probably 1756-9. Gate piers by Richard Kay, Mason and
Carver from a design in Gibb's Book of Architecture, plates 88 and
90, gates and railings by Benjamin Yates of Derby. Ashlar piers
and wrought iron gates and railings. 2 square section gate piers
with vermiculated banded corner pilasters, vermiculated bases,
moulded caps surmounted by garlanded urns; central segmental headed
gates with decorative surround; decorative railings stretching for
approximately 15 yards to left and right of gate piers, the right
hand section incorporating subsidiary gates. Country Life: Vol. 135
