Farmhouse with late C16 (and possibly earlier) features, but cased in
brick late C18. Brown brick (Flemish bond to front) on sandstone
plinth with flush stone quoins. East gable wall and rear are
pebbledashed, west gable wall slate-hung. Stone-slate roof with coped
gables. 2 storeys plus attics,3 windows. 4-pane flush sashes with
wedge lintels and plain cills of painted sandstone. Door of 3 oak
boards on probably C17 ornate wrought iron hinges, the lower one
decayed. 3 hipped dormers contain 4-pane sashes. Flush gable
chimneys. Rear wing of similar character to main wing; single-storey
brick leanto against west gable.
Interior. Right and left front parlours have altered inglenooks,
stop-chamfered beams and doors of 3 oak boards - that to right parlour
is on good wrought iron hinges. Early C18 oak stair to 2nd storey and
attics has 2 turned balusters per step. Painted 8-panelled oak doors
in 2nd storey. In rear right bedroom is a probably C16 deeply moulded
reused oak beam. On front purlin in left attic is carved in raised
lettering MAISTER DOTH AND MISTRESS BOTH ACCORDE WITH GODLY MINDES AND
ZEALOUS HARTES TO SERVE THE LIVING LORDE. ANNO 1597. HENRY WESLEY.
