Group of cottages, early C18. 2 storeys. Forms L-shaped block under separate
roof ridges. No. 5 large dressed stone, No. 4 hammer-dressed both with quoins
and stone slate roof. 2 storeys. North elevation faces across yard to White
Lee House (q.v.) and has 8-light double chamfered mullioned windows to both
floors. 1st floor taking-in door (blocked) has chamfered surround. No. 4
breaks forward and has former 1st floor taking-in door in return wall (now
window). Front has recessed flat faced mullioned windows with square reveals
of 2 lights with same over to 1st floor and 5 lights (lacking 2 mullions) with
3-light window over to 1st floor; doorway with monolithic jambs. Right hand
return wall of rear cottage has doorway with monolithic jambs with date plaque
(probably re-used) over, inscribed "S H : 1 6 1 5" with 4-light double chamfered
