House in 2 occupations. Early C17 with C19 alteration. The interior preserves
2 bays of post and truss construction with mortices for close studded wall to
the soffit of the tie beam; (truss not visible) probably early C16. Large
dressed stone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. 3-cell front. 1st cell retains
doorway with Tudor arched lintel and stop chamfered surround. Altered windows
to flat faced mullioned; 4-light window with 6-light over. To left is added
single storey bay with doorway and window with plain stone surrounds. 2nd and
3rd cells break forward and have coped gables under a 2-span roof. Double
chamfered mullioned windows with hollow chamfered surround and mullions to
ground floor; chamfered to 1st floor with hoodmoulds with straight return
carried over each window. 7-light window with 5-light over. 4-light window
with 2-light over. Projecting rainwater chute between gables. Right hand
return wall is gabled and has windows with chamfered surrounds formerly of 2
lights and 3 lights to 1st floor. Rear has 3-light chamfered mullioned window
(with cavetto moulded mullions) to ground floor with heavy one piece lintel.
Break in stonework, rear steps back and was probably rebuilt early C19 over
original footings. 2 gable stacks and one other at junction of 1st and 2nd
cell.
