House and office, circa 1820 extended circa 1840. English garden wall
bond and Flemish bond brickwork with graded grey slate roof to office
and grey slate roof to house.
House of 2 storeys and 3 windows. The central and left bay are circa
1840 of redder brick in Flemish bond. Replaced door with radial bar
fanlight in ornate flat-roofed porch of cast iron with 6-pane casement
and 6-pane French window to right and 6-pane French window to left;
three 6-pane casements to upper storey. Flush gable chimney left;
ridge chimney between central and right bay. The right bay, circa
1820, was built with the office of 1 storey and 2 windows:
round-arched passage at junction with house, with carved head as
keystone; two 3-light small-pane casements under gauged brick cambered
arches; no cills; right gable-end (overlooking towpath and canal) has
pretty gabled oriel window with round cast-iron mullions, on large
shaped red sandstone corbel, and ornate fretted bargeboards.
Interior of office has round-arched doorway between rooms. Interior
of house not inspected.
