Unusual pair of houses. South side (No 164) is C18. North side (No 162) is later
C19 house added in the same style. No 164. C18. Red and grey brick facade with
rubbed red brick dressings white stone quoins, brick cornice and coped parapet.
Old tiled roof. 2 1/2 storeys with 2 hipped dormers and end chimney. 3 windows,unbarred
sashes. Centre door with good rectangular fanlight. No 162. Red brick with eaves
cornice, white stone dressings and coped parapet. Old tiled roof. 2 storeys.
2 windows northern one identical 2 storey bay to that of No 164, to south, sash
with stone lintel. Door with stone architrave and dentil cornice, heavy C19 detailing.
Nos 162 to 174 (even), the street boundary wall at No 174, Nos 182 to 190 (even)
and No 196 form a group with Nos 169 to 175 (odd) the railings and gate at No 169
and the street boundary wall at No 171. (No 175 and No 196 are buildings of local
interest).
