Public library. 1908 by Wills and Anderson. Red brick and yellow terra
cotta with hipped slate roof. Single storey. Facade has four-bay arcade
of brick round arches with chanelled rustication and concave surrounds.
The windows are each of two lights with architrave, central mullion and
cornice. Above each cornice is a fanlight with iron glazing bars. Door
in third bay. Above a modillion cornice is a balustrade with urns. The
central part is solid and inscribed: "Public Library". A foundation stone
is inscribed: "This library was the gift of Andrew Carnegie Esq ....". The
left hand return wall is of three main bays and has intermediate windows
with architraves.
