1844 (datestone with "I.H.P." on west double gable: but the company has been in
existence since 1665, and there was a building on the site at the time of Hutchins'
map, 1773). Rubble. Pitched slate roof with coped gable ends. 3 storeys. 8 ranges
of segment-headed, 3-light casements with lead glazing bars: 1 window on 2nd floor
is round-arched. Brick modillion eaves cornice to part of front.
Contemporary residential extension southwards at west end. Stucco. Pitched slate
roof with coped gables. 2 storeys. Band, 3 ranges casements with glazing bars
and hoodmoulds.
Railings along south side of forecourt: contemporary, iron, vine leaf design that
is found in many places in Bridport(c.f Nos 52 to 58 West Bay Road).
The court in the office of Bridport Gundry Ltd., an amalgamation of nearly all
the local twine and net companies. It is therefore both the largest and oldest
established employer of labour in Bridport.
