House. Circa 1600, clad in C19. Timber-framed with outer walls mostly
replaced by brick and stone. Tile roof. One storey with attic. Facade
has a wide C20 casement window on each side of door, and a smaller window
to the right. Chimneys on left-hand gable, to right of second window, and,
on front wall, to right of right-hand window. Some timber-framing is
exposed on the left-hand gable wall, with square panels below the tie-beam
and raking struts to the collar. Interior: four bays with exposed ceiling
joists. The left-hand bay has a roughly chamfered spine beam. The ceiling
of the second bay is divided into four sections by deeply chamfered main
beams, the common joists running in alternate directions. The third bay
contains a stone inglenook, re-faced in the mid-C20. Framing on the first
floor suggests that it replaces an earlier firehood. On the first floor
three tie-beam trusses are visible, with jowled posts, raking struts, and
collars.
