Parish church. North and south chancel C13; west tower early C14; nave,
south porch and east chancel late C14; south chapel C15, general restoration
1902. Caused rubble and coursed squared rubble with ashlar dressings.
Stone slated, gable ended roofs, stone coping to chancel. Plan: nave,
chancel, west tower, south porch and south chapel. Chancel is 'Early
English', early C14 work 'Decorated' and late C14 and C15 work is
'Perpendicular'. West tower of 3 stages with diagonal, buttresses to
first two stages. Embattled parapet with crocketted corner finials and
string course with corner gargoyles beneath. Vice turret with 2 loops to
north. West door has 2-centred arch with continously moulded jambs and
stopped label. Above is a 3-light window with reticulated tracery under a
2-centred head with returned label. The second stage has a rectangular
loop north and a sundial and clock south. The third stage has to each side
a 2-centred head, 2 light window with a quatrefoil and 'perpendicular'
tracery, stooped label. The nave windows are of 2 lights with perpendicular
tracery under 2-centred heads with returned labels. To the west are oval
gallery windows in ashlar surrounds. The north nave wall has reset C18
gravestones alternating with the windows. The north and south chancel
windows are lancets with chamfered heads and jambs; south chancel has 2-
centred chamfered doorway. East chancel window of 2-lights with perpendicular
tracery under 2-centred head, Chapel east window of 2-lights with perpen-
dicular tracery under 2-centre head with stooped label. South window of
3-lights and perpendicular tracery under a segmental pointed head. South
porch has a 2-centred arch with continuously moulded jambs and returned
label. Inner door with continously chamfered 2-centred head and stopped
label. West wall has single light window under a 2-centred head. Tower
arch with flat jambs and 4-centred head with 2 hollow chamfers. Chancel
arch is 2-centred and moulded, central hollow chamfer continuous with jambs;
shafts with capitals to responds. Chapel arch is 2-centred and moulded,
central hollow chamfer continuous with jambs; shafts with cable moulded
capitals to responds. Large squint.Roofs: nave has barrel roof with tie
teams and original wall-plates; chancel has wagon roof with original wall-
plate; chapel has similar with later tie beam and shields on wall plate.
C15 alter tomb in nave with canopy and double-cusped arch containing
recumbent female effigy. Early C18 gadrooned font. C13 piscinae in
chancel and chapel. Early C16 wooden panelled pulpit with linenfolds
below and blind tracery with crocketted finials above. 4-centred rebated
rood vice door. Various studded plank doors on strap hinges, west door
dated 1766. C17 communion rails reset under chancel arch. Black letter
