Boundary stone of uncertain date, but possibly C16. Monolith approximately 7
feet high, 15" by 11", rectangular. Rough dressed, broader at base. Bears
bench mark. Marks the boundary between Wadsworth and Midgley Townships, as
determined in 1594 after a dispute between the respective lords of the manor
(Sir George Savile and John Lacy). J. H. Ogden, "A Moorland Township" in
Halifax Antiquarian Society 1904.
