SK 05 NE WARSLOW AND ELKSTONES C.P. TOWNHEAD

4/148 Warslow Methodist Chapel,
- forecourt wall, railings,
gate and gate piers

Non-conformist chapel. Dated "PRIMITIVE / METHODIST CHAPEL / AD 1848 /
PREPARE TO MEET THY GOD". Coursed and squared rubble with
rusticated ashlar quoins and dressings; clay tile roof with coped verges.
Single cell plan, gable end to street. 2 rounded windows to each side;
top opening with glazing bars; round head West doorway with reeded
pilaster surround and raised keystone decorated with a cross motif; date
stone above. Small West forecourt enclosed to sides by a coped stone
wall and corner piers with pyramidal caps, and to front by stone dwarf
wall surmounted by cast iron railings consisting of spears on 2 levels;
central wrought iron gate flanked by square stone piers with pyramidal
caps, the edges chamfered and stopped.
