Monumental slab. Early C18. Commemorates Mary, wife of John Mason of Upton
(d.1723). Sandstone. Grooved margin, semicircular band of scallops round
the head, winged angel heads in the spandrels. Inscription records that Mary
was aged 29. Additions: Martha, 2nd wife of John Mason (d.1749) aged 39; and
the said John Mason (d.1763) aged 78. Slab cracked and repaired with iron
side plates.
