Sundial, mid C17. Found in Temple Sowerby village, it was moved first of all to
Millrigg, ΒΌ mile from Acorn Bank. Cubic sundial sits on top of square stone
which is placed centrally on oval table supported on 2 turned balusters.
Sundial plate and gnomen are missing. The coats-of-arms of the Dalston and
Fallowfield families are on opposite faces of the sundial with an inscription on
the other 2 faces which runs as follows: "Staie, Passenger, tell me my name and
thy nature./Thy name is Dieall, I a mortal creature" and "Since my name and thy
nature soe agree,/ Think of thyself when thou looks upon me."
