Gas works, now house. 1869. Coursed stone rubble with limestone dressings and
slate roof. 2 storeys with attic, 3 bays, the central bay breaks forward under
gable with decorative bargeboards. Quoins. Windows have limestone lintels and
casements, some original, with chamfered members. Attic has triangular-headed
window. Entrance has studded door and decorative strap hinges. Rear has
projecting wing with lean-to extensions to returns; 2 stacks and raking louvres
to roof. Returns have decorative bargeboards. Built for Col. G.J.M. Ridehalgh
of Fell Foot, from 1854 member of the 1st sailing committee of Windermere
Sailing Club and one of the founders of the Royal Windermere Yacht Club. The
house has been demolished.
