House with attached outbuilding formerly smithy. 1697 on datestone, with later alterations and
additions. House is roughcast stone, outbuilding of stone rubble-with slobbered
mortar; slate roofs, older to left. House of 2 storeys and 2 bays. Ground
floor has window to 1st bay with small-paned fixed glazing with opening light;
2nd bay to ground floor and 1st floor has sashed windows with glazing bars.
Entrance has C20 gabled porch. C19 brick gable-end stack and cross-axial
stack. Outbuilding of 2 storeys has sliding door and small window with
small-paned glazing to left; paired loading doors above. Stone to right dated
1697 with initials, probably: "MP-" above with 3 nails to side, and hammer,
pincers and horseshoe below; cable-mould border. Rear has small gabled outshut
and varied fenestration. Gabled projection to left return; small-paned casement
to right return. Important for datestone, a rare example of a trade sign.
