From C12, and restored 1889. Built of stone rubble and ashlar with Collyweston
stone roofs. Nave has 2 large 4-light C19 Perpendicular south windows. North
aisle of 1889 and trefoil north clerestory windows. Early/mid C13 chancel
with Perpendicular south window of 2-lights and 3-light east window. Early
C16 south transept with battlements and Perpendicular windows. South porch
has 4 centred arch doorway.
C13 west tower rebuilt in 1889, of 3 storeys with angle buttresses and Perpendicular
west window to bottom stage and 2-light bell openings and battlements to top
stage. The original spire fell down in about 1500 and destroyed the south
arcade. Late C12 4 bay north arcade with double chamfered arches and circular
piers with cruciform abacus. Remaining one bay of south arcade to south
transept. C15 nave and chancel roofs with moulded and cambered tiebeams,
arched braced collars and wind braces, and crenellated wall plates. South
transept had depressed tiebeam roof. Piscina has dog tooth to hood mould.
Base of screen remains. Norman font, plain cylindrical, with moulded top
of stem.
Tomb of Sir Wm Russell, 1613, with recumbent effigy and kneeling figures of
3 sons and 3 daughters. He was vice-general in the Low Countries in the time
of Elizabeth.
