Public house. Early C17, reworked later C19. Timber framed structure, some exposed
with red brick infill, some encased and some rebuilt in brick. Most brick areas
colourwashed. Clay tile roofs. T-plan, main block 2 storeys and attics, cross-wing
2-storeyed. E elevation: casement windows, main block with 3 each to ground and
first floors, LH gable with one to each floor. Most have C19 honeycomb leading.
Moulded labels to main block ground floor windows and to gable first floor window.
Main block also has 2 hipped dormers with 2-light casements with glazing bars.
One C20 door each to cross-wing and main block. Cross-wing is jettied at first
floor. Substantial red brick multiple ridge stack at junction with cross-wing. One
integral and one external stack to RH gable end. Rear elevation: smaller 2-storeyed
gable to L of cross-wing. To L of this outshut runs remaining length of building.
