Mary Tudor Cottage

House, formerly joined with No.6 (qv). Dated 1580 by owner,
divided and altered mid C18, altered early C19. Rendered stone
and timber-framed, central lateral stack and a tiled roof.
2-room parallel plan, now divided in half, with rear service
wing.
Former 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Plinth, left-hand
doorway with a bracketed canopy extending across entrance to
No.6 (qv) with a ridge and batten door; recessed 6/6-pane
sashes, one on the ground-floor, and hipped dormer. Rear has a
2-storey gabled extension, paired with that of No.6.
INTERIOR has a stone plinth and timber-frame partition, a
large central rear lateral fireplace with a rear bread oven,
early C19 plaster barrel-vault to the through passage, and
inserted C18 rear winder stair to the right of the stack, a
dogleg stair in the rear gabled extension with stick balusters
and column newels.
