Terraced town houses, c1780 Portland Estate development, altered mid C19. Stock
brick with rusticated stucco ground floor and stucco dressings; slate roof. 4
storeys and basement. 3-window wide astylar fronts. Semicircular arched
doorways to right; later doors and patterned fanlights, No 28 with vermiculated
keystone. Recessed sashes, under flat gauged arches to upper floors, with
stucco architraves and cornices to 1st floor, the central window with consoled
pediment. Plat band over ground floor; moulded stucco string course over 2nd
floor; parapet with coping. Continuous cast iron balcony to 1st floor, cast
iron tasselled spearhead area railings. Interior of No 28 altered; No 30
retains some good plasterwork and mouldings, stone geometrical staircase with
iron balustrade, marble chimneypieces; etc.
