Farmhouse. Probably C17. Rubble, stone slate and corrugated iron roofs,
end stacks with dripstones. Two-cell plan. Two storeys, 2 windows: hood-
moulds to windows: left hand one is 3-light late C18 - early C19 metal and
wood casement, right hand is 2-light C19 wooden casement; 2 first floor
windows carefully blocked in rubble. To left of left hand stack is a near-
contemporary pent-roofed one storey and attic extension now roofed in corru-
gated iron, illuminated on ground floor by a 3-light C17 oak mullioned window.
Entrance is to rear formerly under rubble-piered porch into left hand room.
Interior: A-frame roof trusses form 3 bays incorporating much re-used timber,
one collar probably adopted from a rafter with peg holes for a wind-brace.
Right hand room with cyma stop chamfers. These 2 rooms separated by a
wattle-and-daub partition with thin studs from which rises a straight C19
stair into the upper right hand room. C19 bread oven to left hand fireplace
with access from penthouse extension. Ground floor windows deeply splayed
with low oak-topped cills inside, probably as window seats. Two iron case-
ments, one with leaded glazing, probably C17 or C18, survive at first floor
of rear elevation.
