Early C15 hall house with crosswings, extensively altered C20. Timber framed
and plastered, and clad in C20 red brick. Some exposed framing in crosswing
gables. Modern extensions at rear and at east end. Red plain tile roof. Windows
are modern casements, some with leaded lights. Two gabled and one flat roofed
dormer. The original hall has cross-quadrate crown post and contemporary service
wing of circa 1420, with housed soffit shoulders to floor joists. simple crown
post roof, halved and bridled scarfs. West wing is mid C16 with soffite tenons
and diminished haunceshes to floor joists. Jowled storey posts, cambered tie
beams and arch braced side purlin roof. Late C17 red brick gate piers, with
late C17 wrought iron gates. (RCHM 2).
