The south end of the building was designed by George Repton for Henry Thomas
Lane in 1828. Two storeys. Faced with red mathematical tiles with long and
short quoins, modillion cornice, blocking course and window surrounds of Roman
cement, the window surrounds rusticated. Glazing bars intact. The east front
has 5 windows, the end window bays projecting with Wyatt windows on the ground
floor and iron balconettes above. The centre has a large bay on groun d floor
which is probably later, and a balustrade above. The south front has 3 windows.
On the ground floor is a glazed veranda of 8 Ionic columns of Roman cement
with a balustraded parapet above. The west front has 4 windows, one recessed
with a modillion ground floor projection in front of it and porch with Ionic
columns of Roman cement. Doorway with rectangular fanlight and door of 6 fielded
panels. To the north of the original portion are large modern additions of
10 window bays in red brick.
