Country House. 1910. Architect E Guy Dawber. Ashlar with hipped Cotswold stone
roofs, modillion eaves cornice, 4 large ashlar stacks. Half-H plan; English
Baroque style. 2 storeys, attic and partial basement. 2 and 3-light flat-headed
dormers with keystones; 2:3:2 bays, glazing bar sashes in keyed architrave sur-
rounds on cill brackets. Centre bays articulated by Ionic pilasters, on ground
floor windows have bracketed segmental pediments and French casements; the pro-
jecting wings have corner piers. Ornate cast-iron rainwater heads in late C17
style. North (Entrance)Front: 1:3:1 bays, central stack with modillion cornice,
further central stack and chanelled quoins. Central doorway has lugged archi-
trave with inset break keystone with initials 'MC & JCC' to pulvinated frieze,
swan-neck pediment framing urn and panelled bivalve doors with lozenge-glazed
transom light. Oculus above with fruit and flower swags. End bays have open
pediments to ground floor windows. Interior: C18 and C19 style fittings of
quality.
