Terrace of houses, c.1720-25. Brown brick, tiled roofs. Three storeys, basements and dormered
mansards. Each original front three windows wide except for No. 16 with four windows.
Entrances principally to left. Panelled doors in wooden architrave cases flush set under
segmental arches, but No. 14 with c.1800 reeded door surround and No. 19 with cornice hood
on carved console brackets. Flush framed glazing bar sashes, a few blind, under red brick
segmental arches. Parapets with stone copings. Fine wrought iron original area railings with urn
finials and in some cases with scrollwork supports to link extinguishers. Interiors, although with
some alterations and restorations, retain substantial amounts of original panelling, passage halls
and dog-leg staircases in most cases intact with cut and carved strings up to landing above first
floor continued with closed string, turned balusters, etc. Part of an exceptionally well preserved
enclave of early C18 housing together with Barton and Cowley Streets and the surviving
original parts of Smith Square.

combining of the former No. 13 with 14 and the former No. 18 with 19, but
retaining doorways. Brown brick, tiled roofs. 3 storeys, basements and
dormered mansards. Each original front 3 windows wide except for No. 16
with 4 windows. Entrances principally to left. Panelled doors in wooden
architrave cases flush set under segmental arches, but No. 14 with c.1800
reeded door surround and No. 19 with cornice-hood on carved
console-brackets. Flush framed glazing bar sashes, a few blind, under red
brick segmental arches. Parapets with stone copings. Fine wrought iron
original area railings with urn finials and in some cases with scrollwork
supports to link extinguishers. Interiors, although with
alterations/restorations, retain substantial element of original panelling,
passage halls and dog leg staircases in most cases intact with cut and
carved strings up to landing above 1st floor continued with closed string,
turned balusters, etc. Part of an exceptionally well preserved enclave of
early C.18 housing together with Barton and Cowley Streets and the
surviving original parts of Smith Square q.v.
