Early C18 facade to an older building. Red brick with brick stringcourse, long
and short rusticated quoins, parapet with moulded wooden cornice. Tiled roof.
Brick chimney breasts on east and west walls. 2 storeys and attic with 3 pedimented dormers, 5 windows moulded frames deeply recessed, sashes with glazing bars. Painted, rusticated, doorway with door of 6 fielded panels.
On the east side is a small single storey addition circa 1800, which originally
formed part of the house, but is now partly or wholly used as the offices of the
Clerk to the Justices. White brick with cornice and parapet. Slate roof. 3 windows, sashes with glazing bars. Round arched doorway with semi-circular fanlight.

Monmouth House, its gate with overthrow and Quadrille Court with its boundary wall
and gate form a group with Nos 39 to 43 (consec) and No 46 (a building of local
interest) opposite.
