Terraced houses. c.1810-20, as part of J.T. Parkinson's Montagu Square
Portman Estate development. Stock brick, Nos. 46 and 48 with stuccoed
ground floor; concealed slate roof. 4 storeys and basement. 2-window
wide fronts. Semicircular arched doorways to left, No. 48 with stucco
pilasters and entablature; panelled doors in reeded jambs and fanlights,
Nos. 42 and 50 retaining their original patterned glazing. Recessed
glazing bar sashes (the ground floor windows of No. 50 with stucco
architraves) with stucco reveals and flat gauged arches. Plat band
finishing off ground floor stuccowork of Nos. 46 and 48. Parapets with
stone copings. No. 42 has continuous, cast iron, geometric patterned 1st
floor balcony while the rest have similar balconettes to 1st floor
windows. Cast iron area railings with urn finials.
