II
Former smithy, now sports changing rooms. C19. Brick, with colourwashed
roughcast render. Slate roof. Single storeyed rectangular block with lean-to
addition to S. N elevation has central arched doorway with plank door and
brick hood-mould in shape of horseshoe. Flanking windows are also round-
headed, with round-headed brick hood-moulds and plank shutters. Formerly had
2 chimney stacks with diagonally-set shafts, but these have since been
removed. Said to be on the site of the Smithy where Thomas Tompion first
worked.
