II
Formerly farmhouse, now a house: mid C16 with later extensions and
C20 modernisation. Timber framed with brick nogging (some herring
boned) and brick extensions to left and rear. Thatched roof and 3
brick chimneys. Almost close-studding with 2 middle rails, giving 19
by 3 timber small frames. 1½-storey 4-bay front. Lower windows C20
casements with applied lead glazing and a recent gabled porch. 1,
3-light half dormer is swept over by the thatch.
Interior: complicated mouldings to ceiling beam and front of fire
beam. Bead mould to original front doorcase. Full cruck frame with
tiebeam and short struts to purlins visible, others may be hidden. 3
4-board doors with wooden latches and handles.
