Former Parish Hospital at Stoke on
Trent Union Work House

Former parish hospital at Stoke-on-Trent Union Workhouse, now
part of City General Hospital. 1842. Brick with plain tiled
roof. 2-storeyed, 7 bays (1-5-1) with advanced outer bays with
windows with stone architraves. Entrance in centre of main
range, squared doorway in stone architrave with stressed
quoins, and lugged architrave to window over. In the
entablature of the entrance architrave, an inscription: "Stoke
on Trent Parish Hospital erected AD 1842". Flanking windows
12-pane sashes with flat arched stuccoed heads, the ground
floor windows renewed in original openings. Axial stacks.
