House. C16 or earlier. 2 storey 3 window farmhouse with C19 2
storey rear (N) extension under widened roof. Timber frame with
plaster lined as ashlar remaining on gables. Ground floor cased
in brick plastered with modern pargetting. Steep old red tile
roof with flatter rear pitch where old clasped purlin roof
construction used to support new rear rafters. 3 rooms in line
with cross passage next to undivided service room on W, large
chimney backing onto cross passage serving 2-bay hall with
chamfered and stopped joists and axial beam, with evidence that
the S side of the house was formerly jettied. Blocked door in
exposed oak stud wall to parlour on E end, now extended into N
extension. Single storey service room and external gable chimney
with oven on W. C19 external gable chimney on E. Exposed
timbering in interior with large jowled posts on 1st floor and
fine decorative floor structure over middle room.
