Farmhouse, now house. Early C17. Coursed limestone rubble; gabled thatch roof;
stone ridge stack with moulded cornice. 3-unit plan with through-passage. 2
storeys; 3-window range. Roll-stopped scallop-carved timber lintels over studded
door set in chamfered heavy pegged frame, and over early C17 three-light
ovolo-moulded wood-mullioned windows; have leaded-lights to ground-floor window
on right, C19 casements to other windows and mullions removed to ground-floor
windows on left. Similar 2-light leaded windows to left gables and similar
window to rear. Rear stair outshut adjoins C20 rear left wing; mid C19 rear
right service wing, with stone slate roof, and C20 lean-to porch with reset C17
plank door. Interior: roll-stopped chamfered beam in room on right;
stop-chamfered beam in passage; C17 ribbed door with old lock to centre room,
with stop-chamfered beam, fine fireplace with mid C18 panelled surround and C19
arched head over C17 roll-stopped bressumer, and mid C18 panelled shutters. Room
to left has open fireplace beam, and C17 plant: door to rear. C17 winder stairs
with C18 trellised balustrade at top. First floor: C17 ribbed door to room on
left with open fireplace with chamfered bressumer and C17 spice cupboard with
butterfly hinges and lozenge carving. Collar-truss roof with butt purlins. RCHM
suggests late C17 date but comparison with other similar buildings suggests
early C17 date.
