Pair of attached houses. Late C18-early C19. Limestone ashlar
and a pantile double-pile roof. Double-depth plan. Late
Georgian style. 3 storeys and basement; 3-window range.
A symmetrical front has clasping pilasters to a moulded
cornice and parapet. Paired porches with clasping pilasters to
a cornice, paired semicircular-arched doorways with batswing
fanlights and 6-panel doors with reeded lower panels, and
small semicircular-arched windows each side. 8/8-pane
ground-floor sashes, 12/12-pane right-hand first-floor sashes,
C20 French windows to the left, 4/8-pane left-hand
second-floor sashes, C20 casements to the right; blind central
windows. First-floor timber tented balcony has wrought-iron
pointed-arched railings with quatrefoils. Left-hand return has
full basement floor due to the falling ground, 2-windows, with
right-hand canted 2-storey oriel with 8/8-pane sashes;
6/6-pane and second-floor 3/6-pane sashes.
INTERIOR: entrance hall divided by a semicircular arch to a
rear dogleg winder stair with stick balusters, column newels,
ramped mahogany rail, 6-panel doors and panelled shutters.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached front area wrought-iron
railings, gates and capped piers.
