SP 81 NE WINGRAVE WITH ROWSHAM LEIGHTON ROAD

8/129 Former stable block
to west of Mount Tabor House

GV II

Former stable block, now converted to school rooms and residence. Circa
1870-80. Brick, half-timbering with roughcast or herringbone brick infill
to gables and upper part of central wing. Tiled roofs with ornamental
fishscale patterning, roof of centre wing hipped. U-plan. One storey
and attic. Central range has large C20 gabled staircase to upper door
and flanking glazed lean-to roofs over 4-light transomed casements and
board doors. Central wooden bellcote with open arcaded sides, ogee lead
roof and cast iron weather vane with fox. Wing projecting to left has
been altered C20, wing to right has 3 3-light casements. Included for
group value.
