Circa 1830-40 semi-detached pair of two bay 2 storey villas. Stucco faced with
hipped slate roof on flat eaves. Corniced stucco chimney to centre. The
elevation is given a more architectural treatment than is normal for modest villas
of this type. The Ionic columned porches, backed by pilasters, each end of the
front, have their deep entablatures only returned level with the pilasters before
being caried right across the front with a narrow break, to mark the centre division
of the properties, supported by a pair of identical Ionic columns backed by pilasters.
The bays between have a channelled wall plane set behind the pilasters and each
contains an original shallow canted bay window with thin Soanian pilasters and
moulded sill returned as moulding to foot of wall profile as base of columns and
pilasters. Glazing bars intact to front sash with fixed pane side lights. The
blocking course of the Ionic entablature acts as sill course to the first floor
windows which are set in eared architrave surrounds. Bed mould to frieze below
eaves and dividing slit to centre of first floor. No 362 has 3 bay return with
architrave windows outer ones blind, cornice returned as sill course. Channelled
ground floor and blind basement. Lower 2 storey painted brick wing with architrave
doorcase at junction with console brackets to cornice over. The front elevation of
the pair has considerable sophistication.
