SZ47NE ST CATHERINE'S DOWN
1353-0/5/191 Stable Block to the Hermitage

II

Stable block, now subdivided into flats. c1818. Built of
coursed stone rubble with hipped slate roof. Octagonal wooden
cupola with metal weather vane and clock face dated 1818 from
a clockmaker in Clerkenwell. 4 casement windows, round-headed
to ground floor. Blocked cambered arch under cupola. Rear
elevation has 6:4 casements. This stabling was built by
Michael Hoy who erected the Hoy Monument (qv).
